As Jesus laboured along slowly, stumbling every now and then under the weight of the cross, a woman from the crowed took pity onHim and wiped His poor, wounded and bloodied face.She was rewarded for this kind act with a look of immense gratitude from our dear Lord, and also an imprint of His Holy Face was left behind on the towel. How much our Lord must have been pleased with this little act of love and compassion. It must have alleviated his suffering to some extent at least. Here was a women who dared to come forward courageously and wipe His Face, without bothering about the possible consequences. In the frenzied crowd of angary, cruel faces, there was one face with compassion, solace, kindness written all over it.This act of Veronica's must have surely strengthenend Our Lord on His way to Clavery.
Prayer
Dear Lord, may we never turn a cold shoulder but always a smiling face to those who look to us for comfort.

Because by thy holy cross, Thou hast redeemed the world.)
