Jesus, overcome with exhaustion and fatigue, falls the third time. This fall of Jesus is considered the most painful. After dragging Himself and the cross through the streets of Jerusalem, falling down earlier, He now fell yet another time. But He once again rises and walks along to be crucified by a bunch of people who 'knew not what they were doing'. Jesus had so many opportunities when He could have given up. The sufferings He endured could have been terminated if even once He called to His Father for help, but He knew that He had to go through His Father's plan for salvation to the bitter end. He had to drink His cup of suffering to the last dregs; and so He continued to edge closer to His ultimate suffering.
Prayer
Help us dear Jesus to pick ourselves up each time we fall. Consious of our weakness, may we stretch a helping hand to all who share our human frailty.
( We adore thee, O Chirst, and we bless/parise thee.
Because by thy holy cross, Thou hast redeemed the world.)
